About Besorah

The text, first

Besorah (בְּשׂוֹרָה) means “good news”. It is a reading and study tool for the whole Bible in the languages it was written in. These are the principles it is built on.

  1. Start from the original

The Hebrew for the Tanakh, the Greek for the New Testament, with an English translation always beside it. The original is never behind a menu.

  2. Keep the text as it comes to us

Written and read forms, enlarged and suspended letters, dotted words, inverted nuns: where the manuscripts have a mark, you see it, and nothing is quietly corrected. Translations are shown exactly as published.

  3. One order, one numbering

The traditional Jewish order of the books; Hebrew chapter and verse numbering as the common reference, with every other text aligned to it verse by verse, so that comparing texts is never a matter of hunting for the right verse.

  4. Show the evidence

Word study, parsing and cross-references come from named public sources, credited. Where a tool is approximate — the Hebrew New Testament’s word matching, the Targum word links — it says so.

  5. No commentary layer

Besorah does not tell you what a passage means. It shows the text, its words, and where else those words and phrases appear — and leaves the reading to you.

  6. Private and free

No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no purchases. What you read, highlight and write stays on your device.

  7. Open sources

Every text is public domain or openly licensed, and the data built from them is shared back under the same terms. The credits page lists all of it.
